What is meditation? 

 

There are various types of meditation – prayer is one of the best known but there are many other types as well, including, concentrative meditation, transcendental meditation, mindfulness meditation, Zen meditation, Buddhist meditation and Taoist meditation.

 

They all have one thing in common – that is, they all focus on quietening the mind.  Learning to breathe properly, (which many of us do not know how to do!!) and directing your focus to one healing element, a word, a sound, an image, or simply one’s own breath. 

 

Meditation is about stilling the mind, allowing your mind activity to settle, all random thoughts are temporarily put on hold, filling the mind and body with a feeling of calm and peace. 

 

 

Who will benefit from Meditation?

 

Without a doubt - EVERYONE!!!  We all need to still our minds and focus on our breath.  We all need to ground ourselves.  Particularly in this busy world we live in, where pressures are high and life is fast paced.  The body and mind are not designed for such a life and yet it is regrettably unavoidable.  Meditation enhances our daily activities of work, relaxation and sleep.  Meditation can always improve your quality of life, promote well-being and healing from within.
